Q:
Why should I use a professional bakery?
A: In a word, Experience. Your wedding day is one of the most important in your
entire life, and cannot be redone. You want everything to be perfect with no
mistakes and you want anyone associated with your wedding to have the same
attitude. You do not want some lady doing cakes from her garage kitchen who has
done some cakes over the last couple of years for your friend--hoping that she
will not make a mistake on your wedding day. Merritt's Bakery has 30 years of
experience in making your wedding perfect. As you can see from our business
story, we spend all of our days learning how to be the best bakery in America.
Often one of the biggest things people forget about having Aunt Sally or some
amateur home decorator do their cake is getting it to the reception. Every
wedding cake that we deliver is brought to your reception by one of the Merritt
family, personally. As you can see, we take no chances with making your
day perfect.
Q: Do you have a
book of pictures?
A: We have some pictures in books, some online, and some framed in our
showrooms. The showrooms allow you to view full size displays as well as sample a
flavor of cake every day. Also, you may view our online
gallery.
Q: When should I
order my cake?
A: We take orders 11 months in advance. We do place a limit on how many we can
create in a given weekend especially during peak times, so place your order as
soon as you are able. We would like to have as much notice as possible, but the minimum is 10 days
prior to the wedding. We do take orders on a first come, first serve basis and
so you should call us as soon as you have a firm date.
Q: What
kind of groom's cakes do you make?
A: Groom's cakes can be very personal, but you can view some examples of more
formal cakes in our gallery.
Q: If
I have my own picture can you match it?
A: Many time we can match it; however, some cakes pictured in magazines cannot
be duplicated in Oklahoma because of the weather. It is best if you bring in
your picture and we will be happy to review it.
Q: Do you use
Rolled Fondant Icing?
A: We prefer not to use rolled fondant icing. It is truly a sugar art process
that does not lend itself well to the Oklahoma area. Most styles can be produced
using buttercream icing with a significantly better taste and texture than
rolled fondant covered cakes.
Q:
Do you offer sample cakes for us to taste?
A: Yes, every day we have a flavor of cake on-hand for you to taste.
Q:
When do I have to pay for the cake?
A: We require a $50 down payment to start your order which holds your spot in
our schedule. The balance is due no later than 10 days prior to the wedding. We
are unable to accept partial payments.
Q:
Do you deliver the cake?
A: Yes, we deliver bridal cakes. We do not offer deliver if you only order a
groom's cake as our delivery appointments must be reserved for customers
ordering bridal cakes. Deliveries are available for a nominal fee which is based on the difficulty of the delivery
location. We recommend you have your cake delivered. Our staff is prompt and
diligent, taking it as their existence to get your cake to your reception
perfectly. This delivery does include setup of the cake as long as a table is prepared for
that purpose.
Q:
Can I pickup my cake if you cannot deliver to my location?
A: Yes, and we have written some helpful guide sheets to assist you in this.
Also, included are guides on setting up your own fountain or floating stand
arrangement. Download these guides here:

Q: Can you
match my colors?
A: If you bring us a swatch of the color you want, then we will match as close
as possible your color.
Q:
Do you put live or silk flowers on your cakes?
A: No, you will need to arrange the placement of floral arrangements with your
florist to occur after the cake has been delivered.
Q:
How early do you deliver the cakes?
A: We like to deliver about two hours prior to your wedding. We require
deliveries to be no later than 90 minutes prior to your event.
